Background
Bing Lee’s family history describes Yenda as a Chinese migrant. She married Ken Lee in 1959 and worked with him in the electrical retail business established by Ken’s father, Bing Lee, in western Sydney.
Business development
As Bing Lee moved back from day-to-day management, Ken and Yenda took on more responsibility for the company. The family’s own history records their role in its development from the original Fairfield store into a wider chain of retail outlets.
Leadership
After Ken died in 2007, their son Lionel became chief executive and Yenda continued as chairwoman. The company distinguishes her chair role from Lionel’s executive role and describes the business as family run.
