A Statement of Support from Sir Gustav Nossal for the Australian Centre for Leadership for Women (CLW) 2012 SWECO Award

As Patron of the Australian Centre for Leadership for Women, I have great pleasure in supporting CLW's new national Leadership Award, ‘Sustaining Women’s Empowerment in Communities and Organisations’ (SWECO).
Recognising individuals and groups who have developed a sustainable initiative to empower women in a community or organisation is commendable on two counts, first in identifying evidence based models to empower women in different contexts and secondly in promoting that initiatives are sustainable so that they become part of the organisational or social culture to advance women in the long term.
I encourage participants to apply and commend CLW in piloting this initiative to add to its history of leadership work and awards for women.
