Dr Diann Rodgers-Healey

Diann Rodgers-HealeyAs an independent researcher, analyst and consultant, Dr Diann Rodgers-Healey combines research skills with an in-depth knowledge of women’s leadership and workplace issues to provide strategic insights for organizations, individuals and policy developers on leadership and women’s empowerment. Her approach has guided transformations for learning organizations. Specific areas of focus include:  Leadership and Gender Auditing; Strategic Planning; Organisational Development to include women through systemic change; Issue Resolution and Collaboration.

Diann has held leadership positions in business and in the educational sector in London and in Australia. She has interviewed many national and international female and male leaders about their leadership journey and the barriers they have overcome. In 1999 Diann produced and hosted a radio program entitled "Women as Leaders" for the Illawarra region of NSW. The program featured interviews with nine prominent Australian women: Shirley and Natasha Stott Despoja, Robyn Henderson, Jocelynne Scutt, Leonie Kramer, Leonie Still, Pat O'Shane, Dale Spender and Maxine McKew.

The Australian virtual Centre for Leadership for Women (CLW) was founded by Diann to explore women's leadership and raise consciousness about women's issues.  With a vision to empower women to understand and question leadership theory and practice and enable them to develop their own style of   leadership, in 2001 CLW was short-listed for the Australian Award for Excellence in Educational Publishing and in 2002 it was selected to be archived in the National Library of Australia.

Her publications include a book entitled, Mentoring Yourself. National Research projects have included an audit of women's leadership in the Victorian and Federal Police Force, Women getting into Boards in Australia, What Women Want to Develop Leadership and currently Leadership of the Australian Liberal Party and Leadership in the Media. Executive leadership coaching, mentoring and strategic planning for the development of vision statements have also been conducted for workplaces.   Diann's evidence based views on women's leadership have been featured in the Australian Financial Review and in a number of publications from women's and business groups.   Diann had contributed to the review of the Equal Employment for Women in the Workplace Act and Agency review as well as on the issue of Quotas for women in board positions.

Diann Rodgers-Healey graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Sydney University in 1986 and a Diploma in Education from the Sydney Institute of Advanced Education in 1991.  In 1996 she completed a Masters of Education from the Australian Catholic University. Diann received her  PhD from the University of Wollongong in the area of women and leadership in 2009. In November 2009 Diann received The World of Difference 100 Award from The International Alliance for Women (TIAW) in Toronto, Canada.

Diann currently lectures in the University of Wollongong. Her teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate students include the areas of Educational Leadership, Business Communications and Managing People in Organisations.  She is also an Environmental Champion of the University of Wollongong.

TIAW World of Difference Awards 2009

The International Alliance for Women (TIAW) in Canada for its 2009 World of Difference Awards selected Diann Rodgers-Healey from Australia as one of the 100 women who have “made a world of difference” to the economic empowerment of women.
