Frequently Asked Questions about the CLW Leadership Award:Question: Is it possible to nominate and complete the application for the award on behalf of those who undervalue their contribution to communities and don't feel they are suitable candidates? The Award was designed with the view that in asserting what one’s achievements are, individuals would be empowering themselves. This in itself supports what the Award is about as it focuses on self-appointed leadership. You could, however, assist the individual complete the form. This would be acceptable as the individual would still be taking the opportunity to take a step back and evaluate their achievement. Question: The individual started the project using her own initiative and received funding from the government to get it up and running. The project has been growing since then and currently she is being paid in her position to keep it going. Having been the driving force for it, can the individual apply for the Award? At the time of all the applications being assessed, a determination will be made per the criteria as to whether or not the application 'fits' the criteria. Question: Can I nominate for the award if my Leadership skills through the work I do with the community mainly focus on individuals? You need to have initiated a project in the community and carried it through in collaboration with community members. The project needs to be voluntary and not managed by or for your work. Please read the information and application form as the questions will help you decide. Question: Can a team of women leaders be nominated for your award? I am investigating ways we can honour 2-3 women that have just put together a Project. It seems more appropriate to nominate the three rather than the project co-ordinator alone. Their application will need to demonstrate that as a team they initiated the Project from its initial stage to where it is at now. In its current framework, the Award aims to recognize the creator of the project who then sees it through to fruition while working with others. If the others have contributed along the way, then it would be preferable if the creator applies for the project as she would be recognized as having the central role and ownership of the Project. Question: I read this information on the internet and I would like to know if anybody can apply or only Australian citizen are eligible for this program. At this stage the Award is only open to Australian citizens for logistical and administrative reasons. It aims to encourage leadership of Australian women and to advance the rights and status of women in Australia. |
