CHRISTINA BORISAVLJEVIC
Christina Borisavljevic's vision at the commencement of her project was to provide free one hour counselling sessions to members of the community and the disadvantaged. She was motivated to develop this vision as she saw a need in the community and identified gaps in service provision for mental health and welfare. She wanted to apply her skills and education to service the people who needed help the most but could not afford it. The primary benefit of the project she instigated was the provision of 100 free counselling sessions a month to the disadvantaged and support workers in the community of Boambee East, NSW.
MARY HOLLINGWORTH
Mary Hollingworth was elected as President of the Glen Innes Show Society in October 1991 and as President, decided to revive this committee of forty-five years standing. Her vision was to continue a proud tradition of forty years catering, assisting with the pavilion sections of the annual show which looked set to fold. By encouraging her committee and about 200 volunteers that" any mountain can be climbed and that working together for our community can achieve great things, for eg. a Black tie dinner for 270 people served in fifteen minutes with basic facilities," Mary Hollingworth was able to lead her committee to undertake many initiatives and, in three years raise forty-five thousand dollars for the Glen Innes Show Society's committee.
KATHRYN KEEN
Kathryn Keen's vision was to provide a communications and information network for wildlife carers across Australia in order to improve education and standards of care and establish a support network for wildlife rehabilitators who are often in remote areas. To achieve this vision, Kathryn created two national websites, Ozbird and Ozark.
Ozbird is a site developed for wildlife carers around Australia to assist in the identification of native and non-native birds in Australia and also provides educational information on how to preserve natural habitat and care for native bird species.
Ozark is Ozbird's sister site and has many articles and stories on wildlife care. It is a resource for wildlife carers around Australia and aims to increase people's awareness and educational knowledge into the care and rehabilitation of animals.
